Here are few tips:
- Take rest for first 24-48 hrs after injury.
- Apply a cold pack within first 48 hrs. Bag of frozen vegetables such as peas or corn can be applied to the painful area for 15 to 20 minutes at a time.
- Wrap the ankle from the toes all the way up to the top of the calf muscle by using an Ace bandage.
- Elevate the injured area above the level of the heart.
