Lemon is good home remedy for common cold. It is beneficial in all types of cold with fever. Lemon contains Vitamin C which increases body resistance, decreases toxicity and reduces the duration of the illness.

Add lemon in a glass of warm water, put teaspoon of honey and take once or twice daily.

Boil water with a apple cider vinegar. Cover head with towel, and inhale the steam.

For small children, I use a teaspoon of Manuka honey and slightly less than 1/4 teaspoon of ginger spice mixed together. Keep some water nearby as your child may not like the burning sensation. Give them this twice a day to help reduce their cold symptoms.

Take 4-5 cloves of garlic. Add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, 1/4 teaspoon of virgin olive oil. Eat mixture. Drink lots of water before and after.

this helps me alot when i get a cold it not a cure but it helps and it gets you back on your feet my dad alawys gave it to me and its not one bit harmful. this is what you’ll need:

  • quarter-cup boiling water
  • 2 tsp of lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cayyene pepper
  • 1 cushed clove of garlic
  • 1 tsp of honey

just mix them all together and drink!

Eat 5 to 6 raw cloves of garlic a day during the cold and 1 to 2 cloves a couple of weeks after the cold. It builds your immune system. You could chop them up an put them in a salad if you can’t take them whole. Above all do not cook them. This removes all the essential qualities it the garlic.

Drink a cup of water with a few drops of garlic oil and a teaspoonful of onion juice.

boil ginger in a cup of water add little sugar to it, take this mixture twice a day. it is good for common cold.

Lemon and honey - Lemon in warm water with one teaspoon of honey can be taken three times daily. Lemon increases the body’s resistance against the cold and its vitamin C content can be useful in washing out toxic components from the body and decreasing the duration of the disease.

Go for garlic - Garlic has antiseptic and antispasmodic properties. Boil 4 to 5 cloves of garlic in water and ingest the mixture three to four times daily. Garlic oil also helps in opening the respiratory passage. 3 to 4 drops of garlic oil mixed with 4 to 5 drops of onion can be very helpful in flushing all the toxic materials from the body, hence lowering the fever.

Ginger to the rescue - Ginger is an excellent remedy for the common cold. Boil it with water to make a decoction, which can be taken thrice daily, along with half a teaspoon of sugar. Add ginger to your tea for a soothing a delicious beverage.
Other tips to get over your cold

The best precaution you can take to avoid getting a cold is to eat a nutritious and healthy meal that enhances your immunity. It is better to avoid alcohol and cigarettes.

Use a towel or handkerchief while sneezing or coughing to check the spread of infection to others.

Avoid taking antibiotics, as they have no role in the treatment of these viral infections. They may weaken the body’s natural immunity and kill the healthy bacteria of the body, which will create a further favorable ground for the virus to multiply, with more virulence making the condition worse.

Drink lots of water and try to rest as much as possible. It is advised that when the acute symptoms of the disease are present, like soreness of throat, running nose, fever, chills, congestion of nasal passage etc., the food eaten should be light and diluted. After the acute symptoms are gone, go back to your normal well-balanced diet of seeds, nuts, cereals, grains vegetables and fruits. Avoid fish meat, cheese, and starchy foods.

Take 1 teaspoon of lemon and mix it with 1 teaspoon of honey. Then, take half a ginger root and juice it. Take 1 teaspoon of the ginger juice and mix it with the honey-lemon mixture. Mix it vigorously for 30 seconds. Drink this every day.

  • Drink ginger tea throughout the day, as ginger acts as a natural decongestant and also helps with pain relief.
  • Gargle with hot water and salt to relieve a sore or hoarse throat.
  • Sip on a cup of warm milk mixed with a pinch of turmeric and honey to soothe a bad throat and other cold symptoms.

Steam inhalations using a few drops of eucalyptus oil in hot water can help loosen phlegm and reduce a sore throat and congestion.

Apple Cider Vinegar with Honey: Drink a mixture of 2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar (unfiltered is best) with 1 tbsp honey in water. Makes a zingy Apple drink.

Dice an onion, put it in a pot with half a cup of water, pour half a cup of vinegar, quater cup of cooking oil and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Boil together in the pot for 10-15 minutes and drink while it’s still warm.
