Inner ear infection causes pain, redness of the eardrum and sometimes fever. Treatment depends on age and severity of the symptoms. Many ear infections of this type are viral and go away on their own without treatment.
Take rest. Resting will help the body fight the infection.
Applying heat to the ear may help to relieve earache. Use a warm washcloth or a heating pad.
Avoid bending, sneezing, coughing and attempts to equalize the ears.
Take acetaminophen.
