An abscess can develop due to tooth decay or tooth trauma, such as a broken tooth. Once an abscess happens, the infection could spread throughout the mouth and body. If you suspect that you have an abscessed tooth, you should see your dentist right away.
Here are few tips to get some relief:
- Avoid foods and beverages that are very cold or very hot. Also avoid sugary and acidic food.
- Rinse with warm salt water 2 or 3 times a day which may help to relieve pain caused by an abscess. Salt water works as an antiseptic to remove bacteria from the infected area.
Apply one drop of tea tree or clove oil.
