Is there a connection between aspergers syndrome and insomnia?

I was informally diagnosed (through diagnosis of my child) approximately 7 years ago with aspergers syndrome. I’ve had difficulty sleeping through the night for several years, although approximately years ago a neurologist put me on 50 mg Pamelor, 1 per day, to be taken before bed. The pamelor works, but I don’t like the photosensitivity aspect of it and would like to attempt a non-chemical (or perhaps a different chemical) solution.

In aspergers syndrome there may be sleep disturbance and different types of sleep problem.
Nortriptyline (pamelor) can make skin more sensitive to sunlight and sunburn may result. Use a sunscreen (minimum SPF 15) and wear protective clothing if going out in the sun.
