Test tube baby is a process in which fertilization takes place out of the womb that means the female egg cell is fertilized with male sperm outside the womb and then the fertilized egg is transferred into the uterus with the intent to establish a successful pregnancy. It is used to overcome male or female infertility.

In test tube baby sperm and egg are incubated together in a culture medium for about 18 hours and the egg is usually fertilized within that time and then the embryos were transferred to the womb 3-4 days after fertilization.

test tube babies are conceived by uniting egg and sperm in a lab dish and transferring the embryo into the uterus to develop, most do not develop properly.
