Had ORIF distal fibular fracture surgery 16 weeks ago. Started biking on a wind trainer at 6 weeks for 4 weeks of 1 hour a day to gain strength and stability in the ankle. Began walk-jogging on trails 6 weeks ago and the ankle is improving gradually. Now jogging 45 - 60 minutes a day on trails, not the roads. I am in my mid 50’s and have been running/racing for 40 years. Before I started jogging 6 weeks ago, I was instructed to make sure the strength was near equal in both ankles on toe raise excercises.
I would be very careful with running : high impact…just read a post , someone tried to start running 5 months post OPIF with negative consequences : sudden swelling, etc, Yes, sport injury specialist would know the answer
