I have a prescription for 5% ludocaine gel will it help with the pain of a toothache it I rub the gel on the area of skin where my pain is in my tooth. Will it numb it enough to reach the tooth pain inside my mouth

Topical anesthetics like lidocaine when applied directly to skin surfaces or mucous membranes (such as the inside of the mouth) cause numbing and reduce pain. Though the effect usually do not last very long but is useful for quick treatment of toothache.
