symptoms of pneumonia

These are symptoms of pneumonia. A person with pneumonia will probably not have all of these symptoms because some are more related to specific types of pneumonia. However, if you have one or more of these symptoms, and are concerned that you may have pneumonia, you should see your doctor as soon as possible. A chest x-ray is usually necessary to diagnose pneumonia – and early treatment is important.

  • Productive or Moist Cough
  • Painful or Frequent Cough
  • Feeling Tired or Weak (Fatigue)
  • Chest Pain
  • Fever
  • Chills or Shaking and Chattering Teeth
  • Headache
  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Blue or Grayish Coloring Around the Mouth and Lips
  • Confusion or Altered Mental State ( This is uncommon but possible with bacterial pneumonia.)
